This is a closer look at the systems that a dispatcher uses when answering a 9-1-1 call:
This is a 911 ALI (Automatic Line Identification) Screen. When a 911 call is received, this screen
shows the dispatcher what address and phone number the call is coming from. This screen also allows the dispatcher to
transfer the call to other emergency lines and to automatically call back callers.
This screen is a 911 mapping system, this shows a map of where the 911 call is being received from.
This is also used when callers are using a cell phone. New technology is now allowing these maps to show more accurately
what area the cell phone is calling from. As technology advances these maps will allow the dispatcher's to know exactly
where a cell caller is.
This is the phone that a 911 call is received on. You can see that there a many different lines that
come into the dispatch center. Including business lines and tie lines to ambulance dispatchers, CMED, Gas Co., Etc.

These are the EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) protocol cards. These are used by the dispatcher to
ask the 911 caller specific questions regarding medical emergency calls. These cards enable the dispatcher to make sure
that the proper emergency units are dispatched and also provides pre-arrival instructions to instruct callers on life saving
actions that can be taken while waiting for help to arrive.
